Bathtubs

Normal apron-front tubs are 60 inches (152 centimeters) long and from 76 to 81 centimeters (30 to 32 inches) deep. The depth can be as little as 35 centimeters (14 inches) to as much as 50 centimeters (20 inches).

Showers

A minimum of 1,024 square inches, which is 32 by 32 inches (81 by 81 centimeters) of interior space, is required for showers, although it is best to strive for at least 91 by 91 centimeters (91 by 91 inches).

Toilets

Toilets can fit in spaces as small as 76 centimeters (30 inches) wide and 137 centimeters (54 inches) long, but much more comfortable is at least 36 inches wide and 60 inches deep.

Sinks

You need a minimum of 30 inches (76 centimeters) in width for a single sink, but 36 to 48 inches (91 to 107 centimeters) is more convenient.

You can squeeze two sinks to a width of 60 inches (152 centimeters), but you can choose 72 inches (183 centimeters) or more.

Vanities

Use a built-in vanity, if room and budget allow. Makeup vanities need a width of just about 76 to 92 centimeters (30 to 36 inches) and a counter height of 76 centimeters (30 inches), which is the height of the desk or dining table. If you want extra drawers for this setup, you will want more width. Enable your dressing stool or chair to have at least a 24-inch (61-centimeter) width of knee space under the countertop.

Circulation

Enable clear pathways for circulation in your space of at least 36 inches (92 centimeters). In front of sinks, it is best to accommodate at least 42 inches (107 centimeters) so that if you share your bathroom, anyone who passes will not knock into you when you shave your legs.

Lighting

Bathrooms don't have to be dim but add a glass block to brighten up space if yours is. Using a glass door so light philters into this area is also a smart idea. If there is no window in your bathroom, ask your builder if they can install a skylight.
